THIS PROMOTION IS INTENDED FOR PLAY IN MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN ONLY AND WILL BE GOVERNED BY U.S. LAW. DO NOT ENTER IF YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE AND LOCATED IN MINNESOTA OR WISCONSIN AT THE TIME OF ENTRY.

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.

Giveaway begins September 1, 2010 at 12:00:01 a.m. CDT and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. CDT on October 31, 2010 (the "Giveaway Entry Period").

  1. TO ENTER: During the Giveaway Entry Period, visit www.mnbrighterideas.com and complete the required information, including which Great River Energy cooperative you are a customer of and an educational quiz regarding ENERGY STAR¨ Appliances. Whether or not you provide the correct answer has no effect on your chance to win. The quiz is for educational purposes only. Upon completion of the quiz, follow the online instructions to register for a chance to win. You must register by 11:59:59 p.m. CDT on October 31, 2010 to be eligible for the Giveaway drawing(s). Limit of (10) ten entries per person/email address. Entrants may not enter with multiple email addresses nor may entrants use any other device or artifice to enter multiple times or as multiple entrants more than the number of times authorized herein. Any entrant who attempts to enter with multiple email addresses under multiple identities or uses any device or artifice to enter more than the number of times authorized herein will be disqualified and forfeits any and all prizes won, in Sponsor's discretion.
  2. GIVEAWAY ELIGIBILITY: This Giveaway is only open to legal residents of the State of Minnesota and Wisconsin who are age 18 or older at the time of entry and who are customers of one of the participating member cooperatives of Great River Energy at the time of entry: The participating member cooperatives are as follows: Agralite Electric Cooperative, Arrowhead Electric Cooperative, Inc., BENCO Electric Cooperative, Brown County Rural Electric Association, Connexus Energy, Cooperative Light & Power, Crow Wing Power, Dakota Electric Association, East Central Energy, Federated Rural Electric Association, Goodhue County Cooperative Electric Association, Itasca-Mantrap Cooperative Electrical Association, Kandiyohi Power Cooperative, Lake Country Power, Lake Region Electric Cooperative, McLeod Cooperative Power Association, Meeker Cooperative, Mille Lacs Energy Cooperative, Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative, Nobles Cooperative Electric, North Itasca Electric Cooperative, Redwood Electric Cooperative, Runestone Electric Association, South Central Electric Association, Stearns Electric Association, Steele-Waseca Cooperative Electric, Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative, Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association. Employees (and their immediate family and household members) of Great River Energy ("Sponsor"), its participating member cooperatives, and their respective partners, parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, retailers, distributors, and advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible to enter or win. The Giveaway is governed by all applicable federal, state and local laws. Void outside of Minnesota, Wisconsin and wherever restricted or prohibited by law. By entering, you agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor and SponsorÕs independent representative, which shall be final and binding in all respects.
  3. RANDOM DRAWINGS: One (1) Grand Prize potential winner will be randomly selected from all eligible entries received during the Giveaway Entry Period by an independent representative of the Sponsor, whose decisions are final in all respects. Additionally, twenty-eight (28) First Prize potential winners will be randomly selected in the same manner, one (1) each from all eligible entries received during the Giveaway Entry Period from the customers of each participating member cooperative. For the First Prize selections, eligible entries will be segregated based on the cooperative of which they are a customer prior to conducting the drawings for each First Prize. There will be one (1) First Prize winner per cooperative for a total of twenty-eight (28) First Prize winners. Drawings will be conducted on or about November 15, 2010. Odds of winning the Grand Prize depends upon the number of eligible entries received, and the odds of winning a First Prize depend upon the number of eligible entries received from customers of your participating member cooperative.
  4. PRIZES: The one (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a $500.00 Gift Card, to a grocery chain near the winnerÕs residence, as selected by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Gift card subject to restrictions, terms and conditions as set forth on gift card; approximate retail value of Grand Prize: $500.00. Twenty-eight (28) First Prize winners will each receive a $100.00 Gift Card to a grocery chain near the winnerÕs residence, as selected by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Gift card subject to restrictions, terms and conditions as set forth on gift card; approximate retail value of all available First Prizes is: $2,800.00. All decisions related to the Prizes are subject to Sponsor approval, who in its sole discretion will provide the Prizes. No transfer, cash redemption or substitution of a prize will be permitted (except at the discretion of Sponsor due to prize availability). The approximate retail value of all available Prizes is: $3,300.00. Limit one (1) prize per person/household.
  5. NOTIFICATION: Potential prize winners will be notified by mail, e-mail or telephone. It is each entrantÕs sole responsibility to notify Sponsors if he/she changes his/her contact information. Sponsor is not responsible for any change of email address, mailing address and/or telephone number of entrants.
  6. WINNERS INSTRUCTIONS: Potential winners may be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and (where legal) Publicity Release and return it to the SponsorÕs independent representative within ten (10) days of issuance. Failure to return all required documents properly completed and executed, or the return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable, and/or non-compliance with any portion of these Official Rules (including all eligibility requirements) may result in the potential winner being disqualified, the prize being forfeited, and an alternate potential winner being selected. By accepting a prize, each winner agrees to the use by Sponsor and its designees of his/her name, photo and/or likeness in any advertising and/or promotion activities related to this Giveaway in any and all media now or hereafter known without further compensation, consideration, right of review or consent, except where prohibited by law. All local, state and federal taxes on prizes, and other expenses not explicitly stated herein, are the sole responsibility of the individual winners.
  7. GENERAL: By entering, entrants agree: (a) to release and hold harmless Sponsor, its member cooperatives, and their respective partners, parents, affiliates, divisions, subsidiaries, distributors, retailers, and advertising and promotion agencies, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") from and against any and all claims, actions, and/or liability for injuries and/or damages of any kind sustained in connection with the Giveaway, and/or acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize awarded, or any related activities; (b) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and participant hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental, consequential, or any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses; (c) all causes of action arising out of or connected with this Giveaway, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; and (d) any and all claims, judgments, and award shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, excluding attorneysÕ fees and court costs. Released Parties are not responsible for lost, delayed, illegible, incomplete, misdirected, undelivered, late, garbled or corrupted entries, or any inaccurate or incorrect entry information, technical, computer, printing, human or other error of any kind relating to or in connection with this Giveaway. Released Parties are not responsible for phone, electrical, network, computer, transmission, server hardware or software program malfunctions, failures or difficulties, including, without limitation, delay in and/or inability to access the Web Site or any other web site associated with the Giveaway. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to cancel or suspend this Giveaway should fraud, virus, bugs or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the game. In the event of cancellation, Sponsor will randomly award the prizes from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to cancellation. Should multiple users of the same e-mail account enter the Giveaway and a dispute thereafter arise regarding the identity of the entrant, the authorized account holder of said e-mail account at the time of entry will be considered the entrant. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization which is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses or the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. By entering, entrants agree that all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, participantÕs rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Giveaway, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of State of Minnesota without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules. By entering, entrants consent to the jurisdiction and venue of the federal, state and local courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
