- Set your water heater to 120 degrees F.
- Cut your water heater use in half by using low-flow aerating showerheads and faucets.
- Use bathroom fans wisely. In just one hour, these fans can pull out a houseful of warmed or cooled air. Install 15 minute, spring-wound timers on bathroom ventilator fans to prevent over use.
- Promptly repair dripping faucets. One drop a second can waste as much as 48 gallons of water a week. If the faucet leaks hot water, you're also wasting the energy used to heat it while depleting your hot water reserves.
- Don't let water run while you are shaving or brushing your teeth.
